I did my first adventure race in the Fall of 2000.
Since then, I've done over a hundred more adventure races and quite a few solo rogaines.
I'm often the navigator for my team, though not always, and rarely for an entire
I love to be out in the woods with just a map and a compass (and my
dog). There's something very satisfying about finding one's way across a
wilderness area - whether on or off the trails.
For me, it doesn't get any
better than bushwhacking across some diverse terrain all night long heading for
a hard-to-find checkpoint. And I seem to learn something new at every event I
